EVGUENI RATCHEV – VIOLINIST AND CONDUCTOR
B orn in Bulgaria, violinist Evgueni Ratchev has a Bachelor Degree and a Masters Degree in Violin from the Bulgarian Music Academy in Sofia. He specialized in Violin with Professor Fritz Elers, Chamber Music with Professor Ziegfried Palm (Germany), and Orchestra Conduction with Franco Ferrara in Siena, Italy. A finalist at the "J. S. Bach International Contest for Violinists" in Leipzig (Germany), Evgueni also performed as a Soloist and Spalla with one of the most important Chamber Music Orchestras in Bulgaria, the "Studio Concertante".

T his "Portraits" CD is a tribute from the "Soloists of Londrina" Chamber Orchestra (OCSL) to one of Brazil’s most significant composers: César Guerra-Peixe (1914 – 1993). Guerra-Peixe is a central figure in the Brazilian musical tradition because his work embodies such a vast diversity of national rhythms. This CD uniquely gathers most of the pieces from his nationalist period. These pieces have rarely been heard together.
